Muddies Report

Published Thu 10 Mar 2022

As some of you will know, the PDSC Muddie group has been busy training every Saturday morning, strengthening their sailing knowledge and working towards partaking in regular racing in the coming weeks.
With the shifting easterly breeze over the last few weeks, we have been challenging the sailors to focus on sailing on the wind, reminding them where the “no go zone” is. As you would know this has been very tricky with a wind from 0-10 knots and a direction moving left to right by 40 degrees. These conditions are hard even for an experienced yachtie.

The resilience of our young group is showing through, battling through their own self-doubt completing some short courses around the set marks in front of the club.

It has been great to see the smiles on all their faces as they complete the course, battling each other showing their competitive side.

Special mention to the support crew who bring down the sailors every morning, jumping in the water and encouraging them around the course.

On the last weekend of March, 26th and 27th we will be conducting a coaching/racing regatta so the young team of Muddie sailors can show off their skills, racing over two days, having fun and proving to themselves what persistence and resilience can achieve, all while having fun.

Muddie sailors (parents), please see the registration link here for the coaching regatta. Further details will be available at the club or through the coaching team.

Keep up the great work guys and see you all down the club on Saturday.

Your coaching team,

Ben and Willow.
