Apr 29: Mudlark State Titles report

Tight Racing in Mudlark Easter State Championships

A perfect Easter long weekend with fantastic sailing weather saw the Mudlark State Championships hosted at Mounts Bay Sailing Club.

Spectators enjoyed some fantastic close racing with exciting scores to match.  A total of only 2 points separated the top 3 sailors in the gold fleet.   The championship was won this year by Perth Dinghy Club sailor, Emelia Horn who last year, took the Bronze and who has worked hard improving her tactical skills to take the gold this year.

In second place was Holly Hunt from Mounts Bay Sailing Club who also progressed up the ladder from a fifth placing in last year’s championship, closely followed by Matthew Schneider in third dramatically climbing from 9th last year.
Young Bradley Nock who placed first in last year’s Silver Fleet rose to 5th place in the Gold fleet this year.
These young sailors showed enormous form and class and, as protégées of previous Club world champions such as Steen Thomas, will be the ones to watch in coming years as they advance onto the sailing stage of Western Australia.

As always these events don’t just happen and particular thanks was recorded to Mudlark President Steve Schneider and MBSC stalwarts Dave and Tanya Nock, Chris Hunt, Nigel Briggs and all of the parents who pitched in for the weekend.
